Business Plan for Oxford House Tourism UK was appointed by the Trustees of Oxford House in Bethnal Green to work with them and produce a business plan to support a round 2 HLF application. Oxford House was established in Bethnal Green in September 1884, as a University Settlement of Keble College, Oxford. The Settlement concept developed from a growing interest in voluntarism and was a new model of philanthropy, where university graduates sought to uplift the lives of the urban poor through social action. The Settlements provided residential communities, modelled on the Oxbridge colleges, where graduated lived among the urban poor. The project was to repair the Grade 2 listed building, restore the 3rd floor chapel and create a cafe facility to enhance sustainability.
