Business Case For Warwick Old Shire Hall Warwickshire County Council (WCC) required advice with regard to the future use of the Old Shire Hall, Courts and associated facilities which were to revert to WCC from Her Majesty’s Courts Service in December 2010. Tourism UK was commissioned as part of a wider team including PLB Consulting and MACE project management to provide WCC with an appraisal of options ensuring that options presented were financially, functionally and technically feasible. The study was to be completed in a versy short timescale of six weeks. Harperley POW Camp Tourism UK Ltd was commissioned to undertake a feasibility study and options appraisal on the potential for the Harperley POW Camp as a mixed use visitor site. The site has Scheduled Ancient Monument status and has a number of buildings on the “Building at Risk” register. The camp was a runner up in the BBC’s “Restoration” programme broadcast in 2003. Through a market appraisal and working with stakeholders Tourism UK was able to identify a solution for the site which would enable it to reopen as a sustainable visitor attraction.

A Conference Centre for Norwich A feasibility study into a conference centre requires a thorough understanding of the business tourism market. Tourism UK has prepared Business Tourism Strategies for three of the UKs Regional Development Agencies and as such has unrivalled knowledge in this area. Our task in Norwich was to look at a number of proposed options and test these against the demands of the business tourism market. Testing the options requires consideration not only of the demand for facilities in that area but also of the appeal of the destination brand. In the association conference market particularly the appeal of the destination brand is important in selecting a location for the conference.

Business Case for Chester House Farm Tourism UK was commissioned to take a lead role in preparing an options appraisal on this historic grade 2* listed property set within a scheduled ancient monument. The study considered a whole range of options and successfully identified a potential solution to the satisfaction of owners, stakeholders and English Heritage.

Area Tourism Partner Looks For Income Generation Tourism UK Ltd was appointed by County Durham Area Tourism Partnership to investigate a number of potential income generating options to help sustain the organisation in the coming years. We are considering a number of options, including training, and marketing support. This project follows on from a study we undertook on behalf of Durham and into other DMOs across the UK and the costs/benefits of membership schemes.
